Meet Our Chief Union Steward

Representing and advocating for court reporters throughout the Los Angeles Superior Court system.

Rosalina Nava

With 27 years of experience as a licensed court reporter, Rosalina Nava proudly serves as Chief Steward representing more than 300 court reporters throughout the Los Angeles County Superior Court system. Since 2006, she has actively served the membership in a variety of leadership roles, including LACCRA Board Member, Executive Board Member, and President. As a long-time member of SEIU Local 721, she strongly believes in the power of solidarity and works every day to protect the profession, advocate for fair workloads, and defend the rights of court reporters.

Rosalina is currently assigned to Department 100 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, serving as the official court reporter for the Supervising Judge of Criminal Operations for Los Angeles County. This role provides a unique perspective on court administration, judicial operations, and the critical work performed by court reporters throughout the justice system.

In addition to her stewardship responsibilities, Rosalina serves on several union and county committees, including the Horizons Plan Administrative Committee (PAC), the Benefits Administration Committee, and the Fringe Benefits Policy Committee, helping shape policies that impact members and fellow public servants.

Her approach is always member-focused. Whether representing employees at the bargaining table, advocating before court leadership, or working behind the scenes to address workplace concerns, her goal remains the same: to protect the work, strengthen the profession, and support one another through collective action.

Rosalina holds an Associate of Arts degree in Labor Studies and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration. She is currently pursuing a Master of Legal Studies with a concentration in Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution, further strengthening her skills in advocacy, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
