What is PARLAC?
PARLAC (Political Action Reporters Los Angeles County) is a Political Action Committee registered with the California Secretary of State. PACs collect contributions into a single fund that’s used to support or oppose state or local candidates. PARLAC is funded by $7.50/month dues from reporters at the Los Angeles Superior Court who choose to participate.
PARLAC vs. LACCRA

- A professional association representing court reporters employed by the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
- PARLAC
- A separate PAC sponsored by LACCRA that contributes money to political candidates, causes, legislation, or initiatives. By law, its funds and governance must remain entirely separate from any association (LACCRA) funds.
Governance
PARLAC’s purpose and fiduciary duties are defined in its Bylaws and regulated by state and federal laws for political organizations. Its Board of Directors is elected annually by the general membership to oversee the committee’s operations.

Purpose of PARLAC
- Establish and maintain a continuing political campaign fund, unaffiliated with any political party, in accordance with these bylaws and applicable laws.
- Finance state and local political efforts (excluding federal offices) that promote, improve, and protect the court reporting profession in California.
