Shanna Gray

President, Los Angeles County Court Reporters Association (LACCRA)

Dear Members,

As we close out 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on what we have accomplished together—and to thank you for the dedication, professionalism, and solidarity that continue to define our association.

This year brought meaningful progress for court reporters in Los Angeles, much of it made possible by your engagement, advocacy, and willingness to support one another. Among our achievements are the implementation of paid court reporter internships, a paid mentor stipend for interns, and the SB-170 fund side letter securing important recruitment and retention benefits for reporters for another fiscal year. We are especially proud that every new hire is now paired with LACCRA mentor support, helping ensure that those entering our courtrooms feel prepared, welcomed, and valued from day one.

We are also grateful for our collaborative relationship with the Court. New court leadership has demonstrated a genuine commitment to supporting court reporters, and we appreciate their openness and partnership. We look forward to continuing this positive, productive working relationship in the year ahead as we tackle shared goals together.

This year, we proudly congratulate our 2025 retirees, whose years of service and professionalism have left a lasting impact on our courts and our colleagues. At the same time, we enthusiastically welcome the more than 60 new hires who joined our ranks this year. To all our members: thank you for consistently making our new reporters feel supported, encouraged, and part of a true community. That culture of mentorship and care is one of LACCRA’s greatest strengths.

As we look ahead, our work is not finished. In the coming year, we will again need our members’ involvement to help build and maintain adequate staffing levels—because sustaining our positions in the court depends on strong numbers and collective effort. Your voice, participation, and engagement continue to matter more than ever.  We will once again be seeing many students needing observation and internship hours; we will need mentors for our new hires; we will need mentors for our paid interns.  Your unwavering support and willingness to give back to our profession keeps us strong and will allow our numbers to continue to grow.

On behalf of the Board, I wish you and your loved ones peace, good health, and happiness during this season and throughout the coming year. Thank you for all that you do—for our profession, for each other, and for the future of court reporting.

With gratitude and warm wishes,

Shanna Gray, LACCRA President
