Description/Educational Objectives:
The
State of California has mandated a move to the paperless courthouse. LACCR
A continues to offer this workshop with Yeslaw to encourage our members be
ready to hit the ground running as soon as Los Angeles Superior Court fully
commits to receiving eFiled transcripts. The current law allowed for a fiv
e-year grace period for reporters and Courts who were not yet ready for the
new technology. That five-year period ends January 2023!
Court
reporters will learn how to produce paperless transcripts from creating an
ASCII to providing electronic distribution of PDF
transcripts. With Y
esLaw, reporters deliver a highly functional PDF which includes automatic b
ookmarking, automatic creation of multi- volume master indexes, and easy s
ecure delivery to all parties.

Presenter Bios:
John Garnett has been working with YesLaw for the past 10 years. J
ohn has overseen the development of the YesLaw reporter transcript-to-video
synchronization software, and the launch of YesLaw PDF Transcript Generato
r Software paired with the YesLaw Online Repository. Mr. Garnett has design
ed an efficient and easy-to-use interface for the creation and distribution
of electronic transcripts within the YesLaw software. He continues to resp
ond to user feedback for the development and improvement of YesLaw software
features.
Jeff Cobb has 40 years of experience in the court-reportin
g industry. His vast experience encompasses steno mask reporting in the Mar
ine
Corps, stenographic reporting in Hawaii and Washington, owning his
own reporting business as well as managing sales and operations for a mult
i-million-dollar court reporting company in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Today, Jeff is excited to be back with Stenograph assisting in the
creation of an enterprise solution to enhance and improve the
technolo
gy and communication between reporters, agencies and their clients worldwid
e.
Diana Van Dyke has been a court reporter since 1995. She beg
an her career as an independent contractor reporting depositions for over f
ive years before fulfilling one of her professional goals of becoming a Los
Angeles Superior Court official in 2001. After more than ten years of ser
ving the public as an official in almost all of the various case types for
which Los Angeles provides a court reporter, she now finds herself experien
cing the challenge of an assignment in a long-cause felony trial court. Th
is is Diana’s ninth year of proudly serving the membership as a LACCRA Boar
d member. This will be the fifth year that Diana has participated in LACCR
A's E-filing Committee, helping usher into the court system the newest tool
in our court reporters' array of useful assets to our justice system.
